Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on the Promoting and Respecting Economically Vital American Innovation Leadership (PREVAIL) Act

ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 21, 2024 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, including the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement on the Promoting and Respecting Economically Vital American Innovation Leadership (PREVAIL) Act.

For too long, policies that allow extraneous parties to derail innovation have jeopardized investment and slowed advancements in the biomedical sector, one of America’s most dynamic and essential industries. This legislation rights those wrongs by reinforcing patent protections, which will encourage investment, bolster domestic competition, and safeguard the innovation pipeline that has long been the backbone of our economic and medical leadership.

Our Founding Fathers understood the critical importance of property rights, including intellectual property, as a foundation of America’s prosperity. The PREVAIL Act honors that legacy by ensuring that innovators can dedicate their resources to developing life-saving treatments without interference. Intellectual property protections are the lifeblood of the free market, and without them, we risk ceding ground to foreign adversaries who seek to dominate global markets.
