Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Issues Statement Expressing Deep Concerns with Establishing Most Favored Nation Pricing

ALEXANDRIA, VA, May 12, 2025 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, has issued the following statement expressing deep concerns with establishing Most Favored Nation pricing.

“While the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM) stands with President Trump on so many issues, we have deep concerns with the recent Executive Order establishing Most Favored Nation (MFN) pricing. Instead of reforming our current system, MFN will tie U.S. drug prices to those set by foreign bureaucrats. Many of these other countries have socialist single-payer systems with strict price controls that delay or deny access to lifesaving treatments for citizens of those countries. Is that what we want here in America?

“MFN will bring countless devastating implications, such as higher drug prices, premiums, and out-of-pocket expenses. It will also lead to canceled U.S. drug manufacturing expansions and fewer American jobs as manufacturing shifts to foreign adversaries. Finally, and most importantly, it will undermine domestic innovation and, with it, patient access to treatments they need.

“We strongly encourage the administration to put ‘America First’ by instead addressing foreign freeloading, reining in anticompetitive big insurer-pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) conglomerates, and rolling back Biden-era price controls. Moreover, the administration should keep in line with the DOGE mission and cut the fraud, waste, and abuse that drive up spending in Medicaid and Medicare. Embracing socialism is not the solution to driving drug prices downward.”
