Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement Applauding President Trump’s Big Insurer Comments at 2026 State of the Union
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ALEXANDRIA, VA, February 25, 2026 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, has issued the following statement applauding President Trump for highlighting anticompetitive practices by large health insurance companies during his 2026 State of the Union address.
“The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine applauds President Trump’s remarks addressing the influence of large health insurers. We support the President’s commitment to holding these corporations accountable for anticompetitive practices that have distorted the healthcare marketplace. As President Trump noted, Obamacare subsidies have bolstered insurers’ bottom lines while doing little to address the underlying drivers of rising healthcare costs. President Trump’s efforts to ensure patients, not corporate giants, are at the center of our healthcare system will help restore balance, competition, and affordability.
“Through decisive action on pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform, this administration has already driven significant change toward increasing transparency and competition in the prescription drug market. This month, President Trump signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) into law, enacting sweeping reforms designed to hold these shady middlemen accountable and put savings in the pockets of patients.
“Moving forward, CASM urges continued action to rein in large insurers that have consolidated power in the healthcare system, aided in part by the taxpayer-funded Affordable Care Act subsidies. We also encourage the Administration to prioritize strong intellectual property (IP) protections, which are essential to driving strong American innovation.
“We commend President Trump’s commitment to confronting anticompetitive practices, reining in big insurers and their middlemen, and strengthening our healthcare system.”
