Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Applauds President Trump’s Executive Order, Lowering Drug Prices by Once Again Putting America First
ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 16, 2025 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, including the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement on President Trump’s Executive Order, Lowering Drug Prices by Once Again Putting America First.
“The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM) applauds President Trump for his recent Executive Order, Lowering Drug Prices by Once Again Putting America First. We are optimistic that this directive will encourage the Trump administration and Congress to take much-needed action to protect the free healthcare market, including reining in anticompetitive pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), ending the Biden Pill Penalty, and protecting intellectual property (IP) rights.
“Since Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law, it has had devastating impacts on America’s healthcare system. However, thanks to President Trump and his Executive Order, our country’s healthcare landscape is on track to becoming more transparent and protective of patients, taxpayers, and the free market.
“Most imminently, we strongly encourage Congress to follow President Trump’s lead in ending the Biden Pill Penalty by passing the Ensuring Pathways to Innovative Cures (EPIC) Act. This widely supported legislation would protect and foster the development of lifesaving treatments for chronic diseases.
“CASM proudly supports President Trump and looks forward to the favorable impacts to come from this Executive Order.”
