Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on Democratic Presidential Debate in South Carolina

ALEXANDRIA, VA, ‪February 25, 2020 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative and free-market groups such as the American Conservative Union, Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement on the Democratic Presidential Debate held in Charleston, SC attributable to CASM Executive Director Marc Palazzo (mpalazzo@conservative.org):

“Candidates on the left, lead by socialist Bernie Sanders, continue to avoid explaining how they will pay for their socialized medicine plans, whether they be Medicare for All, a public option, or the euphemistic name of the week. Voters should not take these candidates seriously if they fail to explain how their socialist policies will be paid for, or how they won’t reduce access to quality care, significantly raise taxes on the middle class, or stifle life-saving innovation through price controls as similar policies have done repeatedly throughout the world.”
