Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on President Biden’s Remarks in Florida on Social Security and Medicare
ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 1, 2022 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups such as the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement, attributable to Jack Kalavritinos, CPAC’s Executive Director of CASM on President Biden’s remarks in Florida on Social Security and Medicare.
“Biden’s address on Social Security and Medicare was all about fearmongering in a desperate attempt to manipulate seniors ahead of the midterm elections.
The majority of Americans think that the country is on the wrong track: inflation is surging, while voters’ 401(k)s and home values are falling. Meanwhile, insurance premiums have soared 17 percent in just the past year because of the Left’s Socialist healthcare policies. No wonder the polls are so dire for Democrats. Desperate to look like he’s done something, the President boasted about the innovation-crippling drug price controls passed as part of the ‘Inflation Reduction Act.’ But what the President conveniently fails to explain is that price controls will do one thing: they will reduce Seniors’ access to upwards of 130 new drug treatments.
We have options beyond more government control, higher costs, and growing bureaucracy. There are legislative proposals that would improve health care—including the Commitment to America’s plan to personalize care – that will lower prices through transparency and competition while investing in lifesaving cures. After the elections, maybe this White House will recognize options that embrace the free market as a way to improve the quality and reduce the cost of healthcare for everyone.”
