Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on the Election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States

ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 7, 2024 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, including the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement regarding the election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States:

“The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine is ready to partner with President-elect Trump to drive forward healthcare policies that prioritize America’s patients and taxpayers. We call on him to swiftly dismantle the harmful Biden-Harris policies that have burdened our healthcare system. This includes eliminating misguided programs like the Medicare Part D premium stabilization demonstration and putting an end to their attempts to seize private drug patents by twisting the intent of the Bayh-Dole Act’s “march-in” provisions. We also urge immediate collaboration with the new Congress to overturn the socialist price controls forced through in the partisan Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and to curb the power of the anti-competitive, vertically integrated insurer-pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) who are choking off competition. Only by breaking their grip can we bring real competition back into the healthcare market and ensure that patients, not middlemen, receive the benefits of price discounts.

“In this new era, we are optimistic that President-elect Trump and Congress will steer our nation away from the socialist experiments forced on us by President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their Democratic allies. We anticipate the new Administration will take decisive steps to establish a task force holding health insurers and PBMs accountable for their impact on prices and patient choice. The Coalition stands ready to back the Trump-Vance Administration and is confident they will lead the charge in safeguarding our free-market principles, restoring competition, and putting transparency at the core of American healthcare.”
