Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on the Introduction of the Abolish the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Act

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 20, 2026 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, has issued the following statement on the introduction of the Abolish the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Act.

“The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM) thanks Representative Aaron Bean for introducing the Abolish the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Act. The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) is a costly expansion of government overreach into Americans’ healthcare and pushes our system closer to socialized medicine. We are thrilled to see legislation to repeal the program and put an end to further waste of taxpayer dollars.

“While created to save taxpayers money, CMMI has instead driven up spending—adding roughly $5.4 billion in net costs between 2011 and 2020. Time and time again, the program has failed to deliver on its promise to lower costs and improve care, while adding layers of red tape to our healthcare system, ultimately creating more barriers for patients.

“Thank you, Representative Bean, for working to put an end to the bureaucracy that has failed Americans for more than 15 years. It’s time to eliminate CMMI and bring an end to this wasteful, ineffective experiment.”
