Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on the Sixth Democratic Debate

ALEXANDRIA, VA, December 19, 2019 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative and free-market groups such as the American Conservative Union, Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued a response today to the sixth Democratic presidential debate in Los Angeles attributable to CASM Executive Director Marc Palazzo (mpalazzo@conservative.org):

“With the future of America’s health care continuing to be a hotly contested subject, it’s disturbing to see the majority of candidates support Medicare for All, a ‘public option,’ or Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s price control legislation. A socialist takeover of the health care industry comes with a hefty price tag of up to $52 trillion that would inevitably be paid for crushing taxes and a mountain of new national debt – and that doesn’t account for the human cost,” said Marc Palazzo, Executive Director of CASM. “There is no doubt these plans would cause more harm than good to patients. Implementing socialist price controls on the very innovative treatments that help save lives would radically reduce biopharmaceutical innovation. American patients and voters must rally against these proposals before it is too late.”
