Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement Opposing Georgia 340B Bill H.B. 139

ALEXANDRIA, VA, March 5, 2026 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative groups, has issued the following statement urging members of the Georgia House Committee on Health to oppose H.B. 139.

“The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM) continues to strongly oppose the unchecked growth of the opaque, now corrupt 340B program that allows large hospitals and healthcare middlemen to take advantage of American patients and taxpayers. The bill before the Georgia House Committee on Health, H.B. 139, would effectively expand the program without adding any additional oversight, opening the door to further abuse by participating entities.

“340B has already grown far beyond its original scope. Without requirements that hospitals and covered entities use 340B savings to actually reduce costs and improve access for eligible patients, this program is easily exploitable and extends the reach of government without clear guardrails to prevent abuse. Instead, H.B. 139 would prevent manufacturers from imposing safeguards on how 340B drugs are distributed through contract pharmacies, many of which are not even located in underserved communities. In doing so, this bill risks increasing duplicative discounts and program misuse that allow massive corporations to profit from a program intended to help low-income patients. Lawmakers who want to do right by American patients and taxpayers must oppose this bill and instead support increased transparency requirements and measures that ensure savings support those they are meant to help.”
