New Poll Reveals Voters’ Concerns with Implementing a “Most Favored Nation” Drug Pricing Model
The majority of voters would be much less likely to vote for their Member of Congress if they learned that the member supported an MFN drug pricing model.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – May 12, 2025 – Today, the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of 25 leading conservative groups, released a new comprehensive poll conducted by GrayHouse, a leading GOP pollster, that reveals voters’ overwhelming concerns with implementing a drug pricing policy known as “Most Favored Nation.” This pricing model would tie drug prices to the lowest prices paid by foreign countries, many of which operate socialized, single-payer systems where bureaucrats dictate prices by intentionally undervaluing U.S. medicines and patients wait months, even years, for access to treatments.
The survey highlighted the following results:
- MFN is one of the least supported drug pricing proposals, and the majority of voters are concerned about the drug pricing model’s harsh implications, including:
- A $1 trillion imposed-cost on the U.S. biopharmaceutical industry-with investment in R&D and manufacturing shifting to countries like China
- Hundreds of thousands of lost jobs for American workers
- Companies forced to cancel planned expansions in U.S. drug manufacturing
- Increased costs for seniors, families, and employers through higher drug prices, rising insurance premiums, and out-of- pocket expenses
- The majority of voters would be much less likely to vote for their Member of Congress in the next election if they learned that the member supported an MFN drug pricing model in Medicaid that would result in the implications above.
- The majority of voters support solutions to lower healthcare costs and achieve $880 billion in savings, including:
- Eliminate fraud and improper payments in Medicaid through better audits and eligibility verification
- Reform Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to pass along drug discounts to patients and government programs
“This polling is evidence that MFN is not the solution to lowering healthcare costs without undermining patient access or innovation. If Congress is committed to protecting our most vulnerable, lawmakers should reject this pricing model and instead prioritize closing Medicaid loopholes and reining in Pharmacy Benefit Managers,” said Andrew Langer, Executive Director of the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine. “American patients deserve policies that protect their needs over foreign price-setters.”

The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM) was established to address the increasing public policy threats to America’s market-oriented healthcare system and government-sponsored programs such as Medicare. This includes both systemic single-payer proposals and targeted legislative and regulatory policies that would adversely impact patients, families and taxpayers. In tandem, CASM seeks to promote market-oriented policies to bring about greater competition, transparency and innovation as a means to help bring down the cost of healthcare for all Americans.
