Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on the Fifth Democratic Debate

ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 20, 2019 – A member group from the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), the American Conservative Union (ACU), issued a response today on the fifth Democratic presidential debate in Atlanta:

“There’s not much left to debate when discussing Medicare for All. Voters see it for what it is: a socialist takeover of America’s health care would cost more than $32 trillion – and by some estimates more than $50 trillion – eliminate private insurance for 280 million Americans, and implement innovation-chilling price controls,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “At this point, the primary purpose these debates serve is to show how out of touch and radical these candidates really are—every time these candidates speak, the more the general public realizes they don’t want America to become Venezuela.”
